DealPouncer Provides the Aspirin for Your Daily Deals Fatigue Headache

Are You Suffering From Deal Fatigue?

Do countless emails and offers for adventures, classes and the latest-greatest food trends have you down? Are you starting to wish you never signed up to “daily deal site X” to get that ONE deal that was just too good to be true? Your solution might be here.

The U.K.’s intelligent deals aggregator Buyometric has teamed up with Pouncer Media to create a desktop application that alerts you to only relevant deals, without even requiring you to open your inbox.

“DealPouncer” is the result of research conducted by Buyometric (via  SurveyMonkey) of 1,011 subscribers to daily deal email alerts that revealed that over half (52 percent) of all subscribers to online discount deal providers receive five or more deal emails per day.

Here are some other results from the survey:

  • 50% who receive a high number of emails think they receive too many
  • 67% report that they don’t always read them
  • 59% of those people don’t read them because deals don’t seem relevant.
  • Only 10% receiving emails believe that those emails are “very targeted”

Because of these results, Buyometric has teamed with PouncerMedia to deliver only the most targeted deals from across the daily deal spectrum directly to its users.

According to their press release, DealPouncer is an industry first. The application only launches once a day and delivers only deals in categories you select, in your area, which you’ve specified in advance. It features a discreet notification and remains minimized until needed.  The user can also set reminders, which means they can act on a specific deal, assuring they don’t miss anything the really want.

Paul Fisher, founder and managing director of Buyometric, said “The online deals sector is maturing, and our research has clearly identified that people are becoming tired of untargeted emails, yet they don’t want to miss out on potentially good deals. We have launched DealPouncer in a bid to stem the flow of email into people’s – already cluttered – inboxes.”

Patrick Knight is the founder and CEO of Pouncer Media and added:  “DealPouncer will appeal to people who still want to receive attractive deals, but in a less intrusive and more targeted manner. I also firmly believe that it will work towards increasing purchasing rates in the sector, as subscribers can set reminders on deals they like the look of and act on them at a later date, as opposed to missing them – which is often the case in email format. There will always be room for daily deal emails, but creating the first desktop widget will address a sector of the population now beginning to experience ‘email fatigue’.”

Sound interesting? The DealPouncer desktop application can be downloaded for Windows at www.dealpouncer.co.uk, where an online demo is also available. Following the BETA trial, the app will also be available for mac in early 2012, and a mobile app will also be launched at a later stage next year.
