On April 27th, a 23 year old woman named Amber Wood was struck and killed by a hit and run driver in St. Louis MO, as she crossed the street in front of Broadway Oyster Bar downtown. The family has set up a memorial fund through the First Community Credit Union and RealDealSTL is proud to donate to the fund.
RealDealSTL is running a deal for a restaurant called Joe’s Chili Bowl and a portion of the proceeds from that deal, and several others, will go directly to Amber’s Memorial Fund. RealDealSTL says that Amber had a “passion” for pink flamingos, and the Joe’s Chili Bowl logo features two, so the deal is a perfect fit for the tragic situation.
“We thought it was a natural fit to continue raising awareness for Amber and her family so justice is served for the person(s) responsible for this tragedy. The 50% off deal for Joe’s Chili Bowl began on Monday, May 7th on RealDealSTL.com” – Tim Brunette, Executive Vice President of RealDealSTL
Wood family representative Chris Kuban said that the fund will be used to keep the memory of Amber alive. It’s not stated if the fund will go towards legal costs, but the family is eager to bring the person responsible to justice. A Facebook page has been started to help catch the driver
Amber’s mother Georgie Busch is understandably devastated, but is trying to keep a positive attitude as best as she can.
“Losing Amber has been the most horrible experience of my life. She loved and was loved by so many. Her loving spirit will continue to live and shine with the actions applied by this organization. Through the kindness and generosity of others, we will be able to give to those suffering from similar tragedies such as this one we are enduring.”
Our thoughts go out to the Wood/Busch family, and with the help of their community and RealDealSTL, may the driver be brought to justice.
