Lifesta Calling it Quits – an Indication of Things to Come for 2012?

lifestaDaily deal sites seem to be falling by the roadside at an alarming rate lately. Over the past few months Daily Deal Media has reported on a number of closings, including Reachlocal’s DealOn in December and DealHopper, which is slated to close up shop on January 31.

Now it looks like another site, Lifesta, is also in the process of ceasing operations. Lifesta is actually a secondary marketplace to buy and sell daily deal vouchers. Whether the closing is an indication of a cool-down in the voucher resale market or, as some would suggest, a waning interest in the daily deal market as a whole, isn’t clear. It may also be that as daily deal sites mature and are better able to pinpoint consumer’s personal interests, there are fewer unwanted vouchers lying around.

At this time Lifesta has disabled the ability to buy or sell vouchers on the site, but user accounts will be available until March 4th

Here’s the notice posted on the Lifesta website.

Dear Lifesta Users,

We are sad to announce that we have decided to shut down Lifesta. While we are thankful for the support of all of our users, unfortunately we cannot sustain the business any longer.

While we have disabled further purchases on the site, access to existing accounts will remain active until March 4, 2012. During that time you can download any vouchers you purchased and manage your vouchers for sale. We will also continue to honor our 60-day guarantee to buyers.

If you are a seller, any unsold vouchers will no longer be listed for sale on Lifesta. We would like to remind you that your obligation to ensure the validity of the vouchers you’ve already sold still stands, and we will continue to work with you if any issues arise in redeeming those deals. Please make a note which vouchers were already sold so you don’t run into issues if you choose to sell any remaining vouchers elsewhere.

Lifesta.com will shut down on March 5, 2012. As of that date, you will no longer have access to your Lifesta account or to any deal vouchers you have there. If you need any help downloading your remaining vouchers or have issues redeeming any deals before March 5, 2012, please don’t hesitate to contact us at support@lifesta.com.

If you found Lifesta useful, you might wish to explore other sites that offer a similar service: DealsGoRound, CoupRecoup and CityPockets.

It has been a pleasure having you as a customer, and we thank you again for your support.

Sincerely,
The Lifesta Team
