As we watch the market continue to increase focus on social commerce companies, namely Facebook, Inc and the its upcoming 5 Billion IPO, investors look towards other recent social commerce investments. Facebook, although a powerful social commerce startup, generates the majority of revenue simply from selling ads on their platform and taking the pie of successful apps such as Yanga. As the company goes public, its come to the attention of many that companies using the platform, may eventually be forced to shell out a cut of their profits to Facebook in upcoming years.
That being said, in recent months, e-commerce as a whole has exponentially taken off and investors and began to notice and take interest, especially financially. As cited by Social Commerce Today, there have been 10 recent social commerce investments that total 302 Million.
