Constant Contact Acquires MobManager as Possible Element in Daily Deals Venture
According to Boston news site, BostInno, email marketing company, Constant Contact, has acquired MobManager. The startup which was founded in 2010 is a daily deal management platform that makes it possible for small businesses to have better control over their daily deals.
Constant Contact, which purchased MobManager without the usual fanfare that often comes with acquisition, has thus far been in the business of email marketing, but the company’s recent activities give strong indication that Constant Contact may be making a move to expand into the daily deals business.
BostInno tells us that the company has so far acquired Bantam Live, a social/collaborative service for businesses as well as mobile loyalty card platform, CardStar. Add MobManager, which helps merchants track the success of their promotions and bring in repeat customers, and you have the ingredients for something that has eluded many businesses working with daily deal providers– repeat foot traffic.
Constant Contact’ s SVP of Strategy and Corporate Development, Joel Hughes, said that the MobManager brand will be phased out over time and shut down at the end of June.
