Midnightbox.com has been daily dealing for quite a while now. The company was founded back in 2005, years before Groupon exploded onto the scene. Ironically enough, they have remained almost as much as a mystery as their Valentine’s daily mystery deal. I think it’s the mystery of what can be received that drives people to purchase these boxes” explained the company’s Marketing Director. “We are hoping that our Valentine’s Day Mystery Box this year will be even more of a hit with our customers.”

The secret to what’s in the boxes is truly a mystery – the company doesn’t even let its own employees know what the contents are in the boxes. I have tracked down previous ‘Mystery Box’ items and for the most part, it’s a solid deal.
The majority of Midnightbox deals are hi – tech or kitchen gadgets. For those expecting jewelry or flowers, you may be somewhat disappointed. As an example, one box (two years ago) contained a hard drive enclosure, cases for an iPod Shuffle, a PSP FM transmitter, JVC earbuds, and software to backup pictures. It’s important to order one of the Mystery Boxes as soon as it’s available on February 14th. The company states that these ‘boxes’ sell out within the first few hours.
