There’s another new daily deal aggregator in town to help start the week off. Ponocu.com aggregates deals for about nine major cities and then has subcategories for surrounding areas. Offers are available from some of the most recognizable deal providers including Groupon, LivingSocial, Eversave, Scoutmob, Travelzoo, KGB Deals, Dealfind and more. The site is in very simple list form with only the logos of the deal providers for images and one click takes you to right to the offer.
The one thing that I really do like about Ponocu is that you’re not asked to sign up before viewing the deals. I’m adverse to giving out my email address to every Tom, Dick and deal site just to look around and see what they might have to offer.
“I buy something every day from daily deal sites,” explained Nathaniel Newton, founder of http://www.ponocu.com. “I created this site because I didn’t want to log in to 30 different deal sites to check what they had to offer every day. I don’t want to read 30 emails or receive dozens of text messages on deals.”
I hear you Nathaniel and in my case I’d most likely be signed up with hundreds by now just so I could go in and get a feel for the site.
“I’ve tried others aggregator sites and found that they were confusing and cluttered, and they frequently want you to take the time to create an account, give them your email address and personal information, go to your email account to click on a link and confirm, go back to their site to login…Ponocu is free and open, we don’t want your personal information. Ponocu doesn’t make you jump through hoops to find a deal. It’s designed to be fast, easy and simple,” Newton said.
Newton is also creator of http://www.reddate.com and http://www.friendfan.com, two sites that launched in 2004 and were later sold.
There are plans for the addition of an iPad and iPhone app as well as the addition of all major cities to the site.
