Bing Ditches Google’s Dealmap – Inks New Deal with 8coupons
Early last year Microsoft Bing made its way into the daily deal arena with the launch of Bing Deals, an aggregator offering up deals from sites like Groupon, LivingSocial and restaurant.com. At the time Bing teamed up with The Dealmap, another deals aggregator that organizes offers by location and serves them up to users via the web and mobile app.
But a few months later, The Dealmap was acquired Google, putting the search behemoth in the position of having to honor The Dealmap’s contract with rival search engine, Bing.
Now according to Tricia Duryee of All Things D, Microsoft has found a new partner in 8coupons, ending Bing’s obviously stick relationship with The Dealmap. Both Microsoft and 8coupons have confirmed the move.
“We can confirm that Bing is no longer partnering with The Dealmap and is now partnering with local and daily deal aggregator 8coupons,” a Microsoft spokesperson said. “We’re excited about the partnership with 8coupons and to be able to offer our customers access to great deals and discounts from across the Web — all in one place.”
8coupons, the New York-based daily deal aggregator, launched in 2007 as a mobile coupon service before Groupon arrived on the scene. Daily Deal Media has been covering 8coupons since February 2010.
