Seattle-based Zulily, a daily deal provider of apparel and accessories for moms and kids has snagged Marc Stolzman as their new chief financial officer. Stolzman turned in his resignation as CFO with action sport clothing retailer, Zumiez, just last week in preparation for his move to Zulily.
Stolzman will fill the vacancy left by Michael Vernon, who left the company after serving as CFO for less than a year. Vernon had previously served as CFO for Big Fish Games.
The move will rejoin Stolzman with two of his former team mates, Mark Vadon and Darrell Cavens, both currently part of Zulily management. The three are all former executives of online jewelry retailer, Blue Nile.
According to John Cook, writer for GeekWire, “…anytime that a company of Zulily’s size and scope hires a CFO, you’ve got to ask yourself whether it could be prepping for an IPO.”
Cook adds that Zulily may be looking at an IPO down the road, but with the poor showing Groupon has made on Wall Street, it might be a good idea to hold off on that move for a while.
