Our favorite Washington D.C. daily dealer, LivingSocial, has scooped up yet another piece of prime real estate in the nation’s capital in an attempt to accommodate its burgeoning business. Jonathan O’Connell, writer for The Washington Post, tells us that the newly renovated Acme Stove building at the corner of Seventh Street and New York Avenue is LivingSocial’s sixth expansion since its launch in 2007.
The move was announced last fall by Douglas Development, owners of the historic property, stating that the deal would bring 200 workers to the new location, further activating the area around the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, which is located just across the street from LivingSocial’s new digs.
Commenting on the earlier news of the planned move, Alex Padro, executive director of the local business group Shaw Main Streets said, “Having Living Social in the neighborhood means daytime foot traffic for restaurants and retail alike.”
The development company completed a full facade restoration on the building going all out in anticipation of their new high profile tenant.
