Marissa Mayer has spring fever – and the only cure? Start-ups. The Yahoo CEO has acquired Loki Studios, a Palo Alto based-mobile gaming startup in her third acquisition in the past two days.
“We are thrilled to be joining the exceptional folks at Yahoo. We believe fully in their commitment to creating outstanding mobile products. We are excitied to learn from, work with and contribbute to one of the most well-known pioneers of the tech industry,” reads a blog post on Loki Studios’ website.
The post was signed by seven of Loki’s eight staffers, which may be a hint that they are joining Yahoo as part of the acquisition.
- Ivan Lee, CEO and cofounder
- Chris Meill, chief game developer and cofounder
- Brian Laub, project manager, software engineer and cofounder
- Sam Julian, head writer
- Gene Tseng, IOS developer
- Bart Broad, systems engineer
- Marco Gallotta, systems engineer
The only one not to sign was the company’s UI/UX designer, Jessica Lee.
“Today we welcomed Loki Studios to the Yahoo mobile team,” a Yahoo spokesperson told me via email. “Their experience in community and location-based mobile services is impressive and we’re excited to have them on the team.”
This acquisition marks the eighth since the beginning of 2013. Mayer seems to be ramping up her mobile department.
