CustomMade has upgraded its platform with the adoption of WePay – a PCI-encrypted online processor that handles bank and credit card payments. The feature was added to speed up transactions of boost sales on the handcraft marketplace, where customers were previously limited to PayPal, money orders and personal checks when making payments.
According to CustomMade Chief Operating Officer Matt Zisow, transactions at the site had often been cumbersome for both merchants and customers – particularly with multi-step orders involving projects like kitchen remodeling. WePay was chosen because of its smooth tracking features and customer help specialists, who are available via phone, chat and email.
WePay offers free API access to its client e-markets – retaining only 30 cents per bank or card transaction, plus a 2.9 percent processing fee.
Merchants can gain WePay approval within seconds based on profile data and online identity verification, thus expediting a process that could otherwise take weeks. At the merchant end, WePay setup consists of merely two pop-up prompts.
To date, WePay has handled payment transactions for at least 250,000 merchants.
