VIDEO: Inside Groupon Part II
A couple of days ago I wrote a post about my visit to Groupon last Friday. I’ll recap some of that below, but the original post can be found here.
Daily Deal Media put together a short 5-minute video of our visit and feature some of the people we met. As I mentioned before, I came away with a different impression of the company once I actually took the time to meet and speak with some of the people behind the scenes. And aside from Groupon’s fantastic Director of Communications, Julie Mossler, who opened up Groupon’s proverbial and literal doors for us, the people we met are average employees you don’t typically hear about. They take a lot of pride in what they do, as they should. Their talent is freely expressed through-out the office walls, whiteboards and workstations. And for the most part, they seem to really like what they do.
Much of the recent media focus has been negative criticism of Groupon and the daily deal industry in general. And we’re guilty of that as much as any other news outlet, and unless I wake up tomorrow morning and this turns into a flawless industry, that will continue. But it was fun to get away from the business and analytical side for a day. I enjoyed meeting talented individuals working diligently towards a collective goal.
Enjoy the video and pictures below. Our goal moving forward is to do similar spotlights like this, highlighting the people in this industry and what excites them about Social Commerce. On a related note, Teresa Novellino from Portfolio.com posted an article about Andrew Mason getting married. You can read that here.
